Fort Mohave - A civil dispute led to the arrest of Benny Bedell Jr., 42, of Mohave Valley on Sunday evening, 3/23. Around 9:30 p.m., deputies responded to call by a male subject on Agua View Road. The man said that he was having a civil dispute with three subjects regarding vehicle insurance. During conversations, deputies contacted the three subjects.  A record check showed one of the subjects identified as Bedell to have an outstanding felony probation violation warrant issued by Mohave County Superior Court for aggravated DUI. Bedell was taken into custody without incident, transported and booked into the Mohave County District II Substation.

Mohave Valley - Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Robert A. Martin, 48, and Janet Collier, 36, both of Needles, Calif., Sunday, 3/29, afternoon. Martin was arrested for driving on suspended license, misdemeanor. Collier was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and a fugitive from justice warrant issued by the California Department of Corrections, all felonies. About 4:15 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on Levee at Plantation Way and contacted Martin, the driver. The front passenger, later identified Collier, was seen in possession of an open bottle of alcohol. Deputies questioned Collier and she said that she had been drinking all day. As deputies were taking her into custody, they saw a plastic bag on the floorboard near her feet. A search revealed a glass pipe with residue and a plastic bag containing a white crystal substance. A Fort Mohave Tribal officer assisted. A record check showed Martin driver’s license to be suspended. Martin was taken into custody without incident. Martin and Collier were transported and booked into the Mohave County District II Substation. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Fort Mohave - Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Shawn M. Adams, 30, of Riverside, Calif., Thursday evening, 3/26, for aggravated assault per domestic violence, felony, and two local warrants. Around 10:15 p.m., deputies responded to a disturbance on Chaparral Court contacting the 30-year-old female victim. She reported that Adams, her ex-boyfriend, entered her residence without her permission, he grabbed her and threw her to the ground.  The victim said that Adams left her residence walking. Deputies located Adams in the backyard of a neighbor’s residence where he was hiding behind a water softener. Deputies detained Adams for questioning. Adams admitted to entering the victim’s residence, adding he didn’t mean to push the victim which caused the both of them to fall. A record check showed Adams to have two misdemeanor warrants for contempt of court. The first warrant was issued by Lake Havasu City Municipal Court on 1/22/09 with $5,000 bond while the second warrant was issued by Bullhead City Justice Court on 2/4/09 with $2,500 bond. Adams was transported and booked into the Mohave County District II Substation without incident.

Mohave Valley - Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Douglas C. Songer, 34, of Fort Mohave, Monday, 3/30, evening for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, felonies. Around 5:30 p.m., deputies observed a male subject walking in the center median of Hwy 95 in the 5600 block waving his arms in the air.  The male subject, later identified as Songer, ran to the shoulder of Highway 95 when deputies approached him. Songer, he said that he was standing in the middle of the street trying to get his friend to stop and pick him up as they drove by. A search of Songer revealed a a plastic bag containing marijuana. H was taken into custody without incident, transported and booked into the Mohave County District II Substation.

Mohave Valley - Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Richard Drury, 76, a transient, Monday, 3/30, for sex offender registration violation, felony. Friday, 3/27, while deputies were verifying registered sex offenders addresses, they determined that Drury was no longer at an address in which he listed when he registered. Around 9:45 a.m., deputies contacted Drury at the Mohave County District II Substation. During conversations, Drury said that he has been living in his car since Wednesday, March 25, 2009. He was taken into custody and booked into the jail without incident.

Fort Mohave - Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Mitchell S. Lankford, 44, of Lake Havasu City, Friday morning, 3/27, for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, felonies. About 8:00 a.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on Huntington Rd., contacting Lankford, the driver. While speaking with Lankford, deputies smelled an odor of marijuana. When deputies questioned Lankford and he said that he may have a burnt marijuana cigarette around or something. With Lankford’s permission, a search of the vehicle revealed a glass jar containing marijuana and a marijuana pipe. He was taken into custody without incident, transported and booked into the Mohave County District II Substation.

Rhodes Design and Development Corp. listed $100 million to $500 million in both assets and liabilities in the Chapter 11 filing submitted late Tuesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Las Vegas. The company expects the bankruptcy to have little impact on its day-to-day operations. Mohave County had just learned of the situation Wednesday morning and did not yet have a comment on it, said  Public Information Officer Darryle Purcell. The filing listed 32 corporate debtors, including several construction entities, and property in Las Vegas, Henderson and Arizona. It estimated that between 5,000 and 10,000 creditors would have claims. a company retains control of its assets during the reorganization, unless a court rules otherwise. The bankruptcy filing contains at least 1,300 acres of land and four model homes from the Pravada master planned community in Golden Valley.
